The UK's biggest killer

Smokers are more likely to have cancer.

Lung cancer is the UK's biggest cancer killer accounting for 30,000 deaths per year. Smoking causes 80% of lung cancer cases.

The younger a person is when they start smoking and the more cigarettes they smoke, the greater the chances of them developing cancer.

Women who have smoked for 40 years or more have a 60% greater risk of developing breast cancer.

The good news is that when a long-term smoker quits, their chances of getting cancer drop dramatically.
